Parameters
The TPS546D24A is a highly integrated non-isolated DC/DC converter with high operating frequency and 40A current output in a 7mm × 5mm package. Two, three, and four TPS546D24A devices can be interconnected to deliver up to 160A on a single output. The device can overdrive the internal 5V LDO with an external 5V supply through the VDD5 pin to improve efficiency and reduce converter power consumption.

The TPS546D24A uses proprietary fixed-frequency current-mode control with input feed-forward and optional internal compensation components to minimize size and maximize stability over a wide range of output capacitances.

The PMBus interface with 1MHz clock support provides a convenient and standardized digital interface for converter configuration and enables monitoring of key parameters such as output voltage, output current and internal die temperature. The response to a fault condition can be programmed to restart, latch, or ignore, depending on system requirements. Back-channel communication between stacked devices enables all TPS546D24A converters to power a single output rail to share a single address, simplifying system software/firmware design. Key parameters such as output voltage, switching frequency, soft-start time, and overcurrent fault limit can also be optionally configured through the BOM without PMBus communication to support programless power-up.
