Cycle-by-cycle current limit on the high-side MOSFET protects the converter during overload conditions and is enhanced by the low-side MOSFET freewheeling current limit to prevent current runaway. When the overcurrent duration exceeds the preset time, the hiccup mode protection function will be triggered.
The TPS54202 is a 2A synchronous buck converter with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V. The device contains two integrated switching field effect transistors (FETs) and features internal loop compensation and 5ms internal soft-start to reduce component count.
