It is important to protect PTC thermistors from damage by placing them in 0603 (1608 Metric) packages. A safety package is used to safeguard these PTC thermistors. PTC thermistors should operate at -55°C. A thermistor must not operate at temperatures exceeding 150°C in order for it to function properly. It is recommended that the thermistor's maximum power loss-transfer capability be set to 75mW in order to prevent overheating.
