With up to 521 KB of high-performance, almost single access, interleaved, and secure embedded flash memory, the MCF5213CAF80 offers a low-cost, one-chip solution. Additionally, the MCF521X integrated controller communication peripherals enable simple system connectivity. Medium- to long-distance communication with other control systems or computers is made possible by three universal asynchronous receiver/transmitters (UARTS). There is in-system communication available to linked peripherals and systems, such as LCDs and keyboards, thanks to an inter-integrated circuit (I2C) and a queued serial peripheral interface (QSPI). This is provided in addition to the high-performance ColdFire V2 core, which even has an upgraded multiply and accumulate module (eMAC) for DSP-like performance. For users of the current MMC2107, MMC2113, and MMC2114 who need additional flash and/or faster performance along with a richer set of the same peripheral mix while standardizing on one reasonably priced, low-power MCU family, the higher-end MCF5214 and MCF5216 offer an upgrade.
