The MAX3293/MAX3294/MAX3295 are low-power, high-speed transmitters for RS-485/RS-422 communications that operate from a single +3.3V supply; these devices include differential transmitters. The MAX3295 transmitter operates at data rates up to 20Mbps with less than 5ns timing mismatch and guaranteed driver propagation delays of less than 25ns. To minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, the MAX3293 (250kbps) and MAX3294 (2.5Mbps) use a slew-rate-limited scheme.
The MAX3293/MAX3294/MAX3295 guarantee a +1.5V amplitude with a standard 54Ω load and comply with the RS-485 specification. The transmitter requires 5mA of supply current when unloaded; 1µA in low-power shutdown mode (DE = GND).
Hot-swap circuitry eliminates spurious signal changes that typically occur during circuit initialization and when connecting the circuit to a live backplane, while short-circuit current limiting and thermal shutdown protect the driver from excessive power dissipation .
The MAX3293/MAX3294/MAX3295 are available in a 6-pin SOT23 package and are specified over the automotive temperature range.
