Parameters
High-performance RGB LED drivers are essential in smart homes and other applications equipped with human-computer interaction. LED animation effects such as blinking, breathing, and chasing can greatly improve the user experience, while minimizing system noise is critical.

The LP50xx devices are 18 or 24 channel constant current sink LED drivers. LP50xx devices include integrated color mixing and brightness control, and pre-configured features simplify software coding. An integrated 12-bit, 29kHz PWM generator for each channel enables smooth, clear LED color and eliminates audible noise.

The LP50xx controls each LED output with 12-bit PWM resolution and 29kHz switching frequency, which helps achieve smooth dimming and eliminates audible noise. Independent color mixing and brightness control registers make software coding very simple. Global R, G, B group controls can significantly reduce microcontroller load when targeting fade-type breathing effects. The LP50xx can also implement PWM phase shifting to help reduce the input power budget when multiple LEDs are turned on simultaneously.

The LP50xx implements an automatic power save mode for ultra-low quiescent current. With all channels off for 30ms, the device's total power consumption drops to 10µA, making the LP50xx devices a potential choice for battery-powered end equipment.
