STMicroelectronics LIS2DW12 MEMS Digital Output Motion Sensor is an ultra-low power, high performance three-axis linear accelerometer from the "femto" family. The device utilizes a robust, proven fabrication process already used to produce micromachined accelerometers. The LIS2DW12 has a user-selectable ±2g/±4g/±8g/±16g full scale and is capable of measuring acceleration at output data rates from 1.6Hz to 1600Hz. The LIS2DW12 integrates a 32-level first-in, first-out (FIFO) buffer that allows the user to store data to reduce host processor intervention. The user can check the operation of the sensor in the end application through the embedded self-test function.The LIS2DW12 has a dedicated internal engine to handle motion and acceleration detection, including free fall, wakeup, highly configurable single/double tap recognition, and activity/inactivity. Also includes still/motion detection, portrait/landscape detection, and 6D/4D orientation. The LIS2DW12 is housed in a small and thin plastic Land Grid Array (LGA) package, ensuring reliable operation over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
