The ISOW784x is a family of high-performance, quad-channel reinforced digital isolators with integrated high-efficiency power converters. The integrated DC-DC converter operates efficiently, provides up to 650mW of isolated power, and can be configured for various input and output voltage configurations. Therefore, space-constrained isolated designs do not require a separate isolated power supply with these devices.
The ISOW784x family of devices offers high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions when isolating complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) or low-voltage complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (LVCMOS) digital I/O. Signal isolation channels have logic input and output buffers separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulating barrier, while power isolation uses an on-chip transformer with thin-film polymer as the insulating material. Various forward and reverse channel configurations are available. ISOW784x devices default to output high if the input signal is lost, while devices with the suffix "F" default to output low (see Device Characteristics).
These devices help prevent noise currents on data buses or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuits. With innovative chip design and layout techniques, the electromagnetic compatibility of the ISOW784x family of devices has been significantly enhanced to mitigate system-level ESD, EFT and surge issues and comply with emission standards. The higher efficiency of the power converter allows operation at higher ambient temperatures. The ISOW784x family of devices is available in a 16-pin Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC) Wide Body (SOIC-WB) DWE package.
