Texas Instruments ISO1540/41 Low Power Bidirectional Isolators

Texas Instruments ISO1540 and ISO1541 Low-Power Bidirectional Isolators are compatible with the I²C interface. The devices use a silicon dioxide (SiO2) barrier using TI's capacitive isolation technology to isolate their logic input and output buffers. When used in conjunction with an isolated power supply, the IS01540 and IS1541 block high voltages, isolate the ground, and prevent noise currents from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. Compared to optocouplers, this isolation technology offers functional, performance, size and power advantages. ISO1540 and ISO1541 enable a fully isolated small form factor I²C interface. The ISO1540 has two isolated bidirectional channels for clock and data lines, while the ISO1541 has a bidirectional data channel and a unidirectional clock channel. ISO1541 is useful in applications with one single master, while ISO1540 is well suited for multi-master applications.

The ISO154x/ISO154x-Q1 enable a complete isolated I²C interface to be implemented within a small form factor. ISO1540/-Q1 has two isolated bidirectional channels for clock and data lines while ISO1541/-Q1 has a bidirectional data and a unidirectional clock channel. ISO1541/-Q1 is useful in applications that have a single master while ISO1540/-Q1 is ideally fit for multi-master applications. The ISO154x-Q1 devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
