SPECIFICATIONS

Parameters
TI's AM437x high-performance processors are based on the ARM Cortex-A9 core.

These processors are enhanced with 3D graphics acceleration for rich graphical user interfaces and are equipped with co-processors for deterministic real-time processing (including industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFIBUS, EnDat, etc.). The device supports High Level Operating System (HLOS). Linux-based® is freely available from TI. Additional HLOS are available from TI's design network and ecosystem partners.

These devices support upgrades to systems using lower performance ARM cores and offer updated peripherals including memory options such as QSPI-NOR and LPDDR2.

These processors contain the subsystems shown in the functional block diagrams and are described with more information added in the corresponding Descriptions.

The processor subsystem is based on the ARM Cortex-A9 core, and the PowerVR SGX™ graphics accelerator subsystem provides 3D graphics acceleration to support the display and advanced user interface.

The Programmable Real-Time Unit Subsystem and Industrial Communication Subsystem (PRU-ICSS) are decoupled from the ARM core, allowing separate operation and clocking for greater efficiency and flexibility. PRU-ICSS supports more peripheral interfaces and real-time protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, Ethernet Powerlink, Sercos, EnDat, etc. PRU-ICSS supports EnDat and another industrial communication protocol in parallel. In addition, with the programmable nature of the PRU-ICSS and its access to pins, events, and all System-on-Chip (SoC) resources, the subsystem offers the flexibility to implement fast real-time responses, dedicated data processing operations, and custom peripheral interfaces, And flexibly reduce the task load of other processor cores of SoC.

A high-performance interconnect provides high-bandwidth data transfers to internal and external memory controllers and to on-chip peripherals for multiple boot programs. The device also provides a comprehensive clock management mechanism.

An on-chip analog-to-digital converter (ADC0) can be combined with the display subsystem to provide an integrated touchscreen solution. Another ADC (ADC1) can be combined with the pulse width module to create a closed-loop motor control solution.

The real RTC provides a clock reference for independent power domains. This clock reference implements a battery-backed clock reference.

The camera interface provides configurations for single or dual camera parallel ports.

Every AM437x device features cryptographic acceleration. Only AM437xHS devices have Secure Boot feature for anti-cloning and illegal software update protection. For more information on Secure Boot and HS devices, please contact your TI sales representative.
