The ADM2582E/ADM2587E are fully integrated isolated data transceivers with ±15 kV ESD protection for high speed communication applications on multipoint transmission lines. The ADM2582E/ADM2587E include an integrated isolated dc-dc power supply, eliminating the need for an external dc/dc isolation module.
The device is designed for balanced transmission lines and complies with ANSI TIA/EIA-485-A-98 and ISO 8482:1987(E) standards.
Using Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology, it integrates a triple-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, a differential input receiver, and an isoPower DC/DC converter in a single package. The device operates from a single 5V or 3.3V supply, enabling a fully integrated signal and power isolated RS-485 solution.
The ADM2582E/ADM2587E drivers have an active high enable circuit and also provide an active high receiver disable circuit that puts the receiver output into a high impedance state.
The device features current limiting and thermal shutdown to protect against output short circuits and prevent excessive power dissipation due to bus contention. It is packaged in a 20-pin wide-body SOIC and is rated to operate over the industrial temperature range.
The ADM2582E/ADM2587E integrate isoPower technology, which uses high frequency switching elements to transfer power through its transformer. Special attention must be paid to meeting emission standards during PCB layout. For board layout considerations, refer to Application Note AN-0971: Emissions Control of isoPower Devices.
