The AD8422 is the third generation of the industry standard AD620. The AD8422 adopts new processing technology and design techniques, which has a higher dynamic range and lower error than previous generations of products, while consuming less than one-third of the power consumption. The AD8422 uses the same pinout as the AD8221.

The AD8422 has very low bias current and does not introduce errors at high source impedances, allowing multiple sensors to be multiplexed to the input. Low voltage noise and low current noise make the AD8422 ideal for measuring Wheatstone bridges.

The AD8422's wide input range and rail-to-rail output characteristics give it all the advantages expected of a high performance instrumentation amplifier in single-supply applications. Whether using high or low supply voltages, the power saving features of the AD8422 make it an excellent choice for high channel count or power sensitive applications with very tight error budgets.

The AD8422 features robust input protection to ensure stability without sacrificing noise performance. The AD8422 features high ESD immunity and protection against continuous voltage inputs up to 40 V from opposite supply rails.

Gain is programmable from 1 to 1000 with a single resistor. The reference pin can be used to apply a precise offset to the output voltage.

The AD8422 is specified over the −40°C to +85°C temperature range, with guaranteed typical performance curves up to 125°C, and is available in 8-lead MSOP and 8-lead SOIC packages.
